The
Civil War fascinated Bill Charmatz. He frequented re-enactments
in Virginia and Maryland - "I did quick sketches; I
felt like I was a war correspondent...only during the Civil
War!" He also found inspiration for his personal work
living in New York. In Central Park at the West 69th Street
entrance, there is even a bench dedicated to him.
